Destiny 2’s 10th anniversary event has been a rocky experience for most players. Players are frustrated over engram drop rates being too low and Bungie’s response has completely missed the mark. Players are not happy about it!

Destiny 2 has been in a weird state of limbo for many people for quite a long time now. Despite that, the game has remained a go-to for many people and has continued to be relatively successful. It’s been successful enough that the franchise has reached its 10th anniversary and Bungie has been hosting a massive event to celebrate.
The event has brought with it many announcements including plans for the game, what the future of Bungie looks like, and some in-game content as well. The content is just what the typical content players would expect; there’s a new armor set, a new gun (this one is a special version of the iconic Ace of Spades), and most importantly, a brand new title.
The “Legend” title is what many fans have been excited to work towards. While getting the title isn’t too difficult, it does require a large amount of grinding and unfortunately, for many players, one specific part of this grind has infuriated them. Why are players upset? How did Bungie respond?

One specific triumph has caused some anger among Destiny 2 players for being unreasonable in how RNG-dependent and tedious the grinding is.
What are Destiny 2 players upset about?
Players are upset about one specific triumph titled “Accidental Generosity” and specifically the drop rate of the item needed. What is “Accidental Generosity?” This triumph requires players to defeat enemy combatants in the Skywatch area of the Cosmodrome and loot engrams that drop off these enemies.
The Destiny franchise has always been a very grindy game and players have (somewhat) happily done many intense and long grinds over the years. If Destiny players are complaining about a grind being too much, it probably means the grind is a bit too much.
After many players expressed their frustrations with how long the triumph was taking to complete, Bungie responded by saying they’d be making some changes. Most notably, they’d be increasing enemy density in the Skywatch area. What about this response has players upset? To many players, this change doesn’t address the core issue with the design of this triumph. For players it’s not about needing more enemies to farm for engrams, it’s about needing the total number of engrams the triumph is asking them to collect.
“I think the engram drop rate needs to be upped, the enemy density was fine,” says X user @TurtleLover119.
It’s clear when looking at replies to Bungie’s announcement of increasing enemy density that many players feel the change is tone-deaf and borderline pointless.
Where does Bungie and the Destiny 2 community go from here?
Many fans have used Bungie’s poor response as an opportunity to express their frustration and concerns over the game’s lack of quality control and testing. These fans are labeling this as another example of Bungie failing to deliver on something that could’ve been great.
Other fans have pointed out that the 10th-anniversary event has been far from the quality of the 30th-anniversary of Bungie event from a couple of years ago. Fans had high expectations for this event and have lost some of the excitement they had from the other announcements due to the fumbling of the engram drop rate issue.
At this stage of Destiny 2’s life, it’s unlikely that anyone still supporting and playing the game is going to quit just because of some engrams having a low drop rate, and with Bungie’s future in a weird place, Bungie may not want to spend too much time and resources adjusting a random challenge that’s just one of many in a single limited-time event. It should come as no surprise then that Bungie has not announced any plans for further adjustments to the triumph, but they have doubled down on reminding players that they have until the next expansion comes out in 2025 to finish this grind.
